An Immersive VR Patient Journey – CAR-T cell Therapy

Understanding what happens inside the body empowers patients to make more confident decisions. When patients truly grasp complex mechanisms, adherence increases – and innovative therapies can be implemented more safely and efficiently.

Together with Norwin Kandera (onliveline.nxt GmbH), we created an immersive VR patient journey that makes CAR-T cell therapy and its molecular mechanisms intuitively understandable. Our study integrates this VR application into traditional doctor-patient education, which I conduct together with Jule Taubmann (Bachl) (clinical immunology) and which is evaluated together with Benedikt Morschheuser (evaluation of gamification) to measure the learning effect and impact.

High-quality, consistent and understandable patient communication strengthens adherence to treatment, reduces follow-up treatments and relieves the burden on clinical teams.

We presented these insights at MEDICA – Leading International Trade Fair in Düsseldorf in our talk “How does immersive VR experience accelerate adoption of innovative therapies in clinical practice?”
