A strong interdisciplinary collaboration in CAR T cell therapy treated a now 16-year-old girl received the immunotherapy as part of an individualised treatment trial at Universitätsklinikum Erlangen as the first child with Lupus worldwide. Two years after the world’s first patient with lupus was treated with CAR T cell therapy in Erlangen, the interdisciplinary Erlangen CAR T cell team, together with the CAR T cell team from the Department of Paediatric at Uniklinikum Erlangen, was able to free a 15-year-old patient from her lupus.
After the therapy, Uresa was quickly able to go back to school, socialise with her friends and regain her quality of life. BackToHealth
Since Uresa A. received the therapy a year ago, she no longer feels any signs of the disease and her doctors also say that her blood values appear to be „post-lupus“.
